Beverly Elaine Berdine was born in the town of Grundy in Buchanan County, Virginia. She served in the U.S. Army for eleven years, serving in Operation Desert Shield and Operation Desert Storm (the Persian Gulf War) and in Operation Iraqi Freedom (Iraq War). From 1988 to 1996, Berdine was in the Military Police; from 2003 to 2006, she served as an Army medic. Berdine reached the rank of E-4 during her career. After her military career, Beverly Berdine came to live in Leasburg, North Carolina.
